In-person and manual entry use different pricing
Square Free currently lists tap, dip, or swipe payments at 2.6% + $0.15. Manual entry or a saved card on file uses 3.5% + $0.15, so payment method matters as much as sale amount.
Higher plans and volume can change the answer
Square Plus and Premium publish lower rates for some payment types, while Online API remains 2.9% + $0.30 in the current table. Businesses processing more than $250,000 per year can ask Square about custom pricing.
